Softly was recorded in 1987 by Pierre Sprey at the original Maple Shade Studio in Glenn Dale, Maryland. Pierre affectionately referred to this remarkable, intimate session for his friend Shirley Horn as "my first pro gig". Though he loved Shirley's performance and was proud of his recording, Pierre felt post-production of the original 1988 release butchered its sound quality. Wonderfully restored and remastered by René Laflamme, this 15 IPS CCIR tape is produced from the original analog tapes for audiophiles wanting the best-available reproduction of this fabulous album and recording.
