This is the first-ever vinyl release of The Mellow Side Of Clifford Jordan, reissued by P-Vine Records as a double LP on audiophile-grade vinyl, complete with Japanese obi-strip.
These historic duo and trio sessions were recorded during 1989 and 1990 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland at Mapleshade's Beechwood Studio. They offer an intimate glimpse at the Chicago tenor sax giant at the height of his earthy, blues-steeped sound. They feature Clifford jamming with some of his closest musical friends, including Julian Priester, Larry Willis, Chris Anderson and Carter Jefferson. The recording, produced and engineered by Pierre Sprey, employs minimal miking and high-quality cables, creating an extraordinary level of clarity and presence rarely heard in live or studio recordings.
