If you want to get better sound out of your tube gear, upgrading the tubes themselves is a great idea. Unfortunately swapping out your factory 12AX7 for a $100 Telefunken Smooth Plate isn’t always better-sounding and sometimes leaves you worse off. We’ve been there, all too often. For a guaranteed upgrade, mount up a Tube Crown or Tube Halo and you’ll hear a major increase in musical warmth, transparency and detail—plus deeper, cleaner bass and extra treble air.

Precision machined from the same optimal alloy, solid brass used for Mapleshade footers, Tube Crowns and Haloes are a big step forward in performance compared to Tube Anchors, their now-discontinued predecessor. Our new design is a significant advancement for several reasons:

• Using the same three-point contact principle as our acclaimed footers, they drain away the sound-muddying, internally-generated vibration of the tube’s plates, grids and filaments more cleanly than any available tube damper or clamp.

• Once grounded via the thin copper straps we provide, the Crowns shield the tube against stray EMI fields, thus doubling the sonic upgrade.

• The unique black coating inside the Crown helps absorb infrared heat radiating from the tube, enhancing cooling a bit—thus lengthening tube life.
