• Time-Correcting Maple Bedrocks are specifically designed to optimally mount small speakers close to the floor with adjustable tiltback. They are only intended for speaker cabinets up to 12" wide x 13" deep x 30" tall. For larger speakers, use Maple Speaker Plinths—which are also offered with Time-Correcting options.
• Each pair of Maple Bedrocks includes brass supports, with selectable options, for mounting your speakers and a pair of finished 2" or 4" thick air-dried maple stands to receive the internal vibrations transferred out of the speaker cabinets. Also included are pre-attached footers to couple the stands to the floor, with selectable options for optimizing the sound of monitor-size speakers on either hard floors or carpet.
For all Maple Bedrocks, there are three support options for mounting and time-correcting your speakers:
• STANDARD REAR SUPPORTS - This approach requires:
- We custom-mount the Standard Rear Supports to fit the specific speaker being used. Please be sure to include your speaker's manufacturer, model number, and cabinet dimensions in the space provided when ordering.
- When specifying speaker dimensions, be sure to provided the width of the rear bottom edge of the speaker cabinet.
- Please also make us aware of any tapering, bevels, rounding or other distinctive design elements of the back of the cabinet that might affect the placement or functionality of the rear supports.
• RADIUSED REAR SUPPORTS - These precision machined brass supports have rounded contact surfaces that are essential for speakers with rounded or bevelled lower rear edges. They also protect speaker lower rear edges against dings. This approach requires:
- We custom-mount the Radiused Rear Supports to fit the specific speaker being used.
• THREAD-ON TIME CORRECTING FOOTERS - This is the best-sounding option. Arrays attach two 1½" tall Thread-On Low Radiused Heavyfeet under the rear corners of each speaker and place one 3¼" tall, unattached Triplepoint Megafoot alignment footer under the front. This approach requires one of the following:
- Speaker bottoms that already have threaded footer inserts to allow two Threaded Low Radiused Heavyfeet to be screwed in at the rear of each speaker, or
- Drilling pilot holes for screwing in the Low Radiused Heavyfeet with wood screws, or
- Supergluing the Low Radiused Heavyfeet in place.
Investing in Megafeet as alignment footers for tilting the speakers will make more difference than using Megafeet as pre-attached footers supporting the stands. Of course if budget permits, Megafeet for both will yield even better sound.
• Our stock Maple Bedrocks are hand finished with a clear satin lacquer that beautifully enhances the striking natural grain character of our air-dried maple. We also offer options for three made-to-order toned finishes: Natural Cherry, Deep Rosewood, and Satin Black.
• The default stand option is for a 2" thick Ambrosia maple with clear satin finish. Choose 4" thickness and made-to-order color options from the Maple Stand Thickness & Finish drop-down menu.
• 4" thick Bedrocks invariably sound better than 2" Bedrocks. The difference is clearly audible—and is particularly dramatic on concrete, tile, and engineered floors or subfloors.
• The distinctive character of Ambrosia maple's natural grain coloring and figuring is unique for each pair of stands. Our Amish craftsmen hand-plane matched pairs from the rough-cut, air-dried 2½" and 4½" maple to remove coarseness and imperfections from the sawmill. Typically this yields finished 2" and 4" thicknesses but, because of variations in the rough-cut timber, the exact thickness can vary by 3/16".
• The default option for footers attached to and supporting Bedrocks is Low Heavyfeet with short sharp points, the best-sounding 2" footer option on uncarpeted floors. Be sure to use the 'Pre-Attached Stand Footers' dropdown menu options to choose footers best suited for your floor type.
• To avoid marring handsomely finished hardwood floors, use Radiused Heavyfeet. The rounded bottom incurs only a very slight compromise of sound quality relative to sharp points.
• When installing Maple Bedrocks on carpet or a rug, use Heavyfeet For Carpet.
• When budget permits, upgrading 4" thick Bedrocks with our far more massive Megafeet—3½ times heavier than Heavyfeet—is a worthwhile investment for listeners seeking the very best sound.
• We never recommend using Isoblocks as footers for speakers or as supports for speaker stands. Any somewhat soft footer allows speakers to rock which inevitably muddies the bass.
• Maple Bedrocks with clear satin finish are stock items that normally ship in 7 business days and are offered with our 30-day money back guarantee.
