Celebrating the innovative album which introduced bossa nova to the world in 1962, “Samba Jazz” was the last recording made by Pierre Sprey. Recorded live to DAT at Pierce Hall in 2013, Redwine's expanded trio performed the same historic songs on the same fantastic sounding stage in Washington DC where the original album was recorded. The group embraces the permanence of the Byrd/Getz repertoire without ever lapsing into mere imitation or nostalgia. Featuring Ben Redwine on clarinet, John Previti on bass and David Rosenblatt on guitar.
