Formed in the early '90s, the Goons are a hardcore punk band from the Washington, D.C. area. This previously unreleased five-song EP was recorded live to two-track analog tape by Pierre Sprey at Mapleshade Studio in the summer of 1999. True to the Mapleshade commitment to high-fidelity sound, this production utilized no multitracks, overdubs, compression, mixing, EQ, or reverb—raw and unprocessed, preserved exactly as it sounded in the studio over two decades ago.
The band members at the time of this recording were Serge Goon (vocals), Mike Goon (bass), Pat Skinny (guitar), and Mike O'Path (drums).
"Going Postal" and "Breakdown" are from the bands first album, Living In America. "I Want It All" would later appear on No Leaders, their second album. "Bad Excuse" is the title track from the Goons debut 7". "Suffragette City" is previously unreleased and features guest vocals by Adam T Beating.
The original analog tape of their recording session survived the 2007 Mapleshade Studio fire. It was restored and transferred by Paul Gold at Salt Mastering to create the 24/96 digital master for this EP.
