Eddie's an unsung jazz trumpeter. He built up his chops under the tutelage of modernist greats Sun Ra, Cecil Taylor, John Coltrane and Larry Young. His knock-out perfomances landed him a record deal with Blue Note in '68. After fading from the New York scene in the '70s, this CD marks Eddie's return. The Village Voice call this one of "the best jazz records for 1993".Eddie's joined here by Larry Willis on piano, young lion Ben Allison on bass and Jimmy Lyon's virtuoso drummer Paul Murphy. This is the group's homage to Miles Davis' own journey through jazz.
