We recently upgraded a customer's Cambridge 840C using the basic mod program we've developed for the Cambridge 550C - and then taking that program several steps forward. Most notably, the increased headroom of the 840C chassis affords us the space to install a more effective vibration-draining mount for the large toroidal power transformer and to significantly upgrade the vibration control mounting of the disc transport. Our extensive internal upgrades combined with our top-of-line Clearview AC power cord and heavy brass footers unleashed newfound bass articulation, treble clarity, and nuanced midrange detail from our customer's beloved 840C -- both as a stand alone CD player and as a DAC for computer or music server files.
